For those unfamiliar with Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina Representative is one of the most steadfastly conservative members of Congress. Fortunately, Representative Gowdy just got a major bump that could spell bad news for the Democrats.
According to several sources familiar with the move, Gowdy will replace California Republican Devin Nunes as the chairman in charge of the investigation into whether or not Russia interfered with the 2016 election. Gowdy will be supported by fellow Republicans Michael Conaway (R-TX) and Tom Rooney (R-FL), via US Veterans.
Weeks earlier, Gowdy showed his colors by criticizing the far-left liberal Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and other Democrats who pressed for Nunes’ removal, via Fox News.
Weeks of unfair and biased accusations lobbied at Nunes, who was the first member of Congress to admit the Obama administration spied on the Trump team, finally forced the California Representative to step aside.
This move represents another scalp for the Democrats, who already successfully removed General Michael Flynn from the Trump administration, and forced Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the ongoing Trump-Russia investigation.
This Republican willingness to roll over does not bode well for the future. The Democrats, who sense their coalition fracturing, will resort to scorched-Earth tactics to regain momentum.
Fortunately, Representative Gowdy has a proven mean streak, and doesn’t seem like he’s easily-swayed.
Several videos on YouTube joke about “Gowdy Mode,” the representative’s tendency to be unrelenting during official hearings. In one of these videos, an agitated Gowdy rips into FBI Director James Comey for the illegal dissemination of leaks that occurred last month, via YouTube.
Gowdy’s curt, direct mannerisms could be the very thing we need to (finally) bury the left’s conspiracy theories about Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.
The left knows this. They’re already publishing hit pieces accusing Gowdy, Conaway, and other Republicans of being unwilling to fully investigate the matter.
A despondent Slate believes Gowdy is simply another version of Nunes, via Slate.
The left is desperately trying to hang on to the one conspiracy theory that could lead to President Trump’s impeachment. Expect Gowdy to suffer numerous barbs from the media, but also expect a thorough investigation from his team.
By the end of the year, don’t be surprised if the Russian connection to the Trump administration is officially put to rest for good.
