Charles Krauthammer is probably the most respected conservative political commentator and analyst, and regarding of the Iranian payoff situation this is what he said.
“Obviously it wasn’t a coincidence. The reason that it was objected to by Justice, there is a statue that prohibits us from engaging in Iran dealing with dollars. So they had to print the money here, ship it over to Switzerland, turning into Swiss Francs and Euros, and ship it over to Iran.”
Referring to the $400 million payment we made to Iran in order to release prisoners, Krauthammer said, “If a private company had done this, this is called money laundering. The CEO would be in jail right now.”
Regarding to a Wall Street Journal report, he said that the Justice Department objected to the States Department’s decision to do this. He said, “Of course, the Justice Department objected. It was illegal.”
